After almost 7 months of waiting, the night finally came for the NKOTBSB (New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys) concert. I don't know the last time I was so excited for something! I was in love with the New Kids in middle elementary school and also really liked the Backstreet Boys in late high school. So, this concert was the perfect combination for me. I never went to "secular" concerts as a kid so I was making up for lost time. The night completely surpassed any expectation I had set. Both groups sounded the same, pretty much looked the same and did all the same dance moves to their original songs. I would totally go again tonight if there was a concert available. One word: AMAZING!!!!
We tried to do a general and informal crowd census...mainly woman between the ages of 25 and 40. There were a few younger or older, but the majority were my generation. And, I think we counted maybe 10 guys that we could see from our seats. Those poor guys got suckered into it somehow. Hope their significant others appreciated their efforts!
I was lucky enough to have this beautiful woman as my date...none other than my bestie Erica. She didn't know any of the New Kids songs but loved BSB growing up. Since she's 5 years younger than me, I could forgive her lack of New Kids knowledge. I did make her a CD though of both groups so she could learn the songs ahead of time. Yeah, I'm kinda thoughtful like that!
After her was Jordin Sparks, who I enjoyed. I knew almost all the songs she sang thanks to the radio. We'll give that one a thumbs up.
Finally, it was time for the real show. NKOTBSB performed for a solid 2 1/2 hours and I don't think I really sat down once. I perched on my seat a couple of times, but never fully sat down. They opened up together, then alternated songs and closed together. Did I mention it was amazing? :)
